Harper is a storyteller, first and foremost. Her studies in music and recording bring a creative perspective to her film editing style and technical prowess.
She began her career in voice-over editing, for the video game Sims, at Electronic Arts. She quickly moved from cutting VO to trailers, realizing she enjoyed visual storytelling rather than just staring at waveforms. As a freelance editor in the San Francisco Bay Area, Harper worked primarily in the commercial world with clients such as Nike, BMW, Apple, Google, T-Mobile, Sony, Hoka, and more.
In 2019, Harper returned to her SoCal roots to pursue her passion for long-form storytelling full-time. Since arriving in Los Angeles, she has worked between documentary and commercial worlds. Highlights include editing the feature documentary Are We Good? which premiered at SXSW and Tribeca in 2025. The film follows comic and podcast pioneer Marc Maron who reflects on loss and growth after the death of his partner, Lynn Shelton. Harper also worked on Racist Trees, a feature documentary on racial discrimination through invisible housing rules in Palm Springs, which premiered at IDFA and the Palm Springs Film Festival, as well as PBS’ Independent Lens.
Harper is most passionate about telling stories that bring hidden accounts of inequality to light. As a singer-songwriter, she uses her music as another medium for storytelling. She also enjoys taking on ambitious knitting projects.
